Sorry for being MIA but the plague has hit us. Between the kids & myself we've been in the ER 5( FIVE!!!) times this week. We all sound like barking seals but in addition to the viral croup which turned into bronchitis I also ended up with the flu & apparently I now have seasonal allergies. It sounds like a Christmas carol.....
12 boxes of popscicles, 11 hours waiting in one visit, 10 bags of halls, 9boxes of Kleenex, 8 hundred fifty spent in copays, 7 prescriptions, 6 late night phone calls, 5 ER visits, 4 breathing treatments, 3 steroid shots, 2 inhalors, and 1 allergic reaction.....
a horrible Christmas carol really...but yes...I was the weenie with the allergic reaction & ended up being shot up with a bunch of benadryl (oh man is that stuff GOOD! I was out like a light!) That stuff could take down a rhino! But then again Tylenol knocks me for a loop!...I'm very sensitive... ;) But anyways I'm still fighting it but at least with the prescriptions they gave me last night I got some sleep for the first time in the whole week.
Before it got bad I was sleeping setting up holding Sunshine because she couldn't breathe when she laid down and would practically choke to death which would scare her & just caused a horrible pattern. Tyler & Rhea had a few vomiting episodes but were fine the next day...although it still sounds like I've a bunch of harbor seals in the living room.
We discovered that the minute we got Sunshine outside in the wee hours of the morning she would breathe so much better. So, when we came home we put her snow suit on her & opened up our bedroom window. She slept so much better. I also propped two pillows up behind her to keep her elevated some. Ben & I slept for the first time than night in a few days. But, that cold air...oh...did it totally mess me up. I woke up whooping, throat on fire & vomiting. A sore throat sucks so much more when you're vomiting. I swear something was coming out of every oriface. Sunshine was adorable & kept coming in to say "Sunshine here Honey...Sunshine here.." (When she's upset we always say..'Honey's here' or 'Honey & Daddy's here...' So she was really sweet.
She also has no issue coming to stare at you while you're vomiting. And, I can't stand for someone to hear me vomit (yes I can vomit without making noise...that's the only cool thing that's come from being hyperemic with each of my pregnancies other than actually getting a babe!) it really bothers me so I basically did everything I could to keep her out which gave her the perfect incentive to learn to open/turn the door knob. Now...privacy is definitly a thing of the past....
...a moment of silence for the lose of potty time privacy if you will....
So! It's nearly 2 AM and I'm feeling pretty good. I don't know if it's the inhalor or the stomach meds but I'm as fidgety as a 2 year old hopped up on cotton candy and I can't sleep but oh am I tired.
I hope you like the new look of the blog. I tried to do the translation gadget but well...it simply won't work. So if anyone has any ideas please holler at me. Time to take some 'scriptions. Nighty night!

Oh my goodness...that is no fun at all. I hope you are all better and stay healthy. We went through some sickness at our house last month, well at two houses actually. Ansley and I went to my mom's to visit and ended up with horribe stomach bugs which landed her in the ER waiting for 6 hours to be seen...and then we came home to our house and Tom ended up sick.....it was awful.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I just wanted to say I LOVE your blog and the name..... totally what I was talking to hubby about the other day when discussing what to call the type of parenting/schooling we do. :)

Thanks Amanda! Mondorfment came to mind one day when I was trying to think of our style too. We do some Charlotte Mason too but well... I think the three I've got going are good enough! ;)
ReplyDeleteNice to meet another Mondorfment family.
